One Hundred Years Of Solitude Lesson Plan Day One

Overview
In this lesson, students participate in a direct learning and thinking in a recreational pursuit.
The students will have to read the chapters assigned(the whole book eventually) and answer various questions throughout the given time.
Students then discuss and write up a story in a poem and comic strip that will be graded based upon a rubric system.
This lesson will work well around a ending of a unit. It will help test the students knowledge and comprehension of the given material.

Theory to Practice
It develops the students reading and comprehension of the material given.
This gives them a strict instruction for modeling their reading habits.
By applying the readings to other text, illustration, and projects, students will be able to practice what they have learned.
This idea of direct learning and thinking helps the children with their critical thinking skills, along with creative side.

Students Objectives
Students will:
Improve not only their ability to learn, but also their participating skills.
Be able to respond to the literature in a more modern way rather than always keeping their head drowned in a boring book.
Practice their writing and drawing skills.
Continue on learning effective ways to understand all materials, using prior knowledge to help illustrate what they have learned.

Instructional Plan
Photocopy the One Hundred Years of Solitude Assignment Sheet and follow directions given.
If any questions before the students start the pre-project, time now will be given.
Review over any questions that were too hard to answer.
Then let the students start their comic strip and poem project which will be graded on a rubric system.

Reflection
Students will hand in all of their work which includes :
-Assignment sheet(that has short answer questions)
-Comic Strip
-Poem
-Rubric
From this Project:
The teacher is able to see the direct learning and thinking of the students.
The teacher can then understand if the students read the given material by the questions and participation in the review session.
Also the teacher can find out if the student actually is learning and comprehending the text properly.

*The last thing given to the students will be a Wish and Stars sheet. The student will pick a partner when they get their project back, and will read the other work. Then they will get extra credit for filling in the Two stars and One wish if they give off a positive attitude.*
